Overcoming Adversity: Embracing Resilience and Self-Worth
No one can bring you down if you do not enjoy being hurt. Denying despair denies others the ability to make you feel despondent. When you respect yourself, no one can disrespect you.
Abraham Lincoln, America's most famous president, faced skepticism when he first entered the presidential office. A distinguished lawyer was struggling to digest this success. He remarked, "Lincoln, you may not remember, but your father used to make my shoes." Lincoln smiled and replied, "How can I forget? My father made the best shoes because he loved his work. People loved his work. I learned to make shoes from him. If there's an issue with your shoes, I can fix it. But if it's made by my father, then it's impossible for there to be a problem."
It's not necessary that you have the issue. People around you also face various problems. Some may be wounded, some may be disheartened with life, and some may be unfamiliar with the concept of self-worth. You don't have to buy into their problems. When you learn this, your problems seem less significant, and you gradually correct your affairs with harmony.
