Human Progress: A Sequential Journey
انسانی ترقی: ایک سلسلہ وار سفر
Human progress has occurred in a systematic manner. For example, in the past, we used to search for wood that perfectly suited our needs. However, this search was quite challenging and required patience. There was always a difference between our requirement and the available form of wood. Then we started shaping iron. We began cutting and shaping it according to our preferences.
The journey of progress began. Different tools were crafted for various tasks, but hard work and dedication continued to increase. Then humans created electricity. They made machines electric-powered. The labor decreased, but the satisfaction of human ingenuity remained unfulfilled. If the laborer changed, the results also changed. Then humans began creating digital machinery. Now a computer takes shape and starts creating things based on human desires.
From simple machines to mechanical and then digital, this journey of progress is a long one in human history. But an individual's life is very brief. Yet, even in this short life, the order remains the same. Our habits are reflected in our digital outcomes. We just need to understand the distribution between bad habits and good habits.
Bad Habits vs. Good Habits
What is a bad habit? The simple answer is human complacency. A good habit, on the other hand, is our effort and hard work. Bad habits provide temporary pleasure, while good habits are the reward of hard work. For example, we often eat sweets after a meal. The brain enjoys the sweetness, but the body's necessity lies in nutrition. If you eat sweets first, the desire for food diminishes.
Ramadan provides an opportunity from Allah (SWT) to correct this order. It gives us a chance to return to those good habits that we have neglected in the comfort of our eleven-month routine. The joy of breaking fast lies in the difficulty of fasting. Similarly, success in the Hereafter lies in the hardship of life. This hardship shapes easy good habits. Ramadan is the month to cultivate these habits.
